The No Debts for Vets grant-making program started in 2010 and coincides with ARMing Heroes' annual fundraising drive held between September 11th and Veteran's Day, November 11th, of each year. The purpose of the program is debt reduction for qualified veterans, including (in some cases) their spouse and children, with particular emphasis on meeting a financial need at a crucial time so that the veteran or family member's future changes in a positive way as a result.
Since 2010, the program has raised and disbursed more than $100,000 to help veterans and their families with various financial hardships. Veterans we have helped, which you can read about in the Vets We Helped section of our site, have been extremely appreciative of the support our organization has been able to provide. Check out their stories and visit our Press area for more information about our organization's activities since our inception.
Grants made under the program have ranged from a few hundred dollars up to several thousand dollars, and are paid directly to a creditor or creditors on behalf of the grant recipient.
The annual fundraising drive always begins at 8:46 AM EST on September 11th and ends at 11:00 AM on Veterans Day. The starting time coincides with the anniversary of the first attack on the World Trade Center in 2001, while the ending time coincides with the anniversary of the official cease fire at the end of World War I, a date later adopted for use as Veterans Day in the United States.
ARMing Heroes accepts applications for our annual No Debts for Vets program between July 4th and September 11th each year. If you fill out the contact form indicating you are a veteran, you will be added to our email list to receive information when we make our annual call for applications.
